About the role

  • Ongoing full-time. 35 hours per week.   
  • Location: Parramatta. Flexible and hybrid working options available.  
  • Clerk Grade: 7/8 Level. Base salary $106,025 p.a. to $117,363 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading. 

 

About the team  

The Property Services team works with the Estate Management and the Estate Planning and Administration Divisions. 

 

The Estate Management Division makes financial and legal decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support, when NSW Trustee and Guardian is appointed as their financial manager by a court or tribunal. The division also oversees people who are appointed to privately manage the finances of another person.   

 

The Estate Planning and Administration division is responsible for delivering NSW Trustee and Guardian’s commercial services in Will making, as trustee, attorney, and as administrator/executor of deceased estates as well as administration of Powers of Attorney, Life Estates and Crime Confiscation/Civil Forfeiture. 

 

These divisions deliver high quality financial, estate management, executor and trustee administration services using a customer-centred approach. 

 

About the role 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead and manage our Construction and Inspections Team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice, recommendations, and decisions for NSW Trustee and Guardian’s customers and key stakeholders. You will independently handle complex building and construction projects, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.

Additionally, you will provide supervision, coaching, and mentoring to support staff, customers, and stakeholders in implementing tailored solutions to meet their unique and complex needs. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a real difference in our community. 

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: 

  • Leading and managing a team to ensure the delivery of exceptional property services, including repairs, maintenance, inspections, and all construction-related services to our customers. 
  • Providing high-quality, consistent, and timely construction and property services that align with NSW Trustee and Guardian’s Customer Excellence Principles for our diverse customer base. 
  • Making informed decisions and recommendations about property-related matters within your delegation. 
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the residential and commercial property portfolio. 
  • Driving a customer-focused approach to meet customer expectations and business targets. 
  • Reviewing and providing advice on inspections and all construction-related activities to ensure compliance with building codes, legislative requirements, and insurance purposes. 
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to enable effective communication and timely decision-making concerning customer property matters.

About you

  • is an excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively with customers with a range of circumstances, including those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, chronic mental illness and contact with the criminal justice system.   
  • has expertise in regulatory matters that allows you to serve as a key resource for staff, contributing to the ongoing development and success of the business. 
  • has strong collaboration skills that will allow you to build and develop working relationships and open channels of communications across all teams in the Estate Management division and Estate Planning and Administration division, other NSW Trustee and Guardian divisions and external stakeholders.  
  • is committed to driving a customer-centred culture, contributing to high staff performance, and fostering a professional, efficient, and effective working environment. 
  • may be required to travel to different locations within NSW.

Essential requirements   

  • Diploma of Building and Construction or Certificate IV in Building and Construction and/or demonstrated relevant experience in the construction industry including repairing, maintaining or building real property.  
  • Must hold a current NSW drivers’ licence and be prepared to drive throughout NSW as required.  
  • Understanding of NSW Trustee and Guardian’s key services and customer base including experience working and/or supporting people with disability, vulnerable or older people.   
  • Willingness to have phone calls and team email accounts monitored for quality assurance and training purposes, and to participate in one-to-one review sessions for calls and emails.
